爱尔兰西临大西洋，东靠爱尔兰海，与英国隔海相望，是北美通向欧洲的通道。爱尔兰作为欧盟国，享有欧盟国的各项政策和福利。英国和爱尔兰有着良好的地理位置和贸易关系，存在共同的文化基因，历史上联系紧密。英国脱欧后，爱尔兰也成为欧盟国家和英国自由往来的唯一途径。
2014年6月16日开始正式实行英爱互通政策(BIVS)，需要经常往来与两国之间的商人及游客，可以自由出入英爱两国。所以爱尔兰也越来越被投资者所看好和重视。
英爱互通政策是指外来访客便于出行在英爱两国之间的政策。对于持有英国或爱尔兰一国旅游签证或商务签证的游客，可以直接来往于英国爱尔兰两国之间，不需要再单独办理签证。单次逗留不超过90天，在旅游签证未过期前提下可多次往返。
2019年爱尔兰和英国双方共同签署了一份合作备忘录，重申双方对共同旅游区协定的承诺。这意味着英国脱欧，爱尔兰公民仍将继续享有在英国的互惠权利。
该权利包括自由进入和居住、工作、获得教育、领取社会福利、获得医疗服务、社会福利住房并且在地方和议会选举中投票。
爱尔兰投资移民项目有两种投资方式：一种是投资不低于100万欧元到爱尔兰移民规划局批准的，在爱尔兰成立的基金，投资期至少保持三年以上；另一种方式是一次性捐款50万欧元以上，至艺术、体育、健康、文化或教育领域的爱尔兰公益慈善项目中，贡献于爱尔兰的慈善事业。如过凑够5人团体捐款就只需要40万欧元即可。
通过爱尔兰投资移民可以获得爱尔兰永居身份，拿到的是等级最高的stamp4签证，也是爱尔兰的一种经商许可的身份。申请人可以在爱尔兰当地工作、经商、创业、上学、生活并享受除养老以外的一切福利。对于投资人子女来说，获得Stamp 4签证以后，只要在爱尔兰当地读完三年高中，就读大学时就可以享受跟当地学生一样的学费标准。
